Manto Movie Review

A sudden twist in his life.

Seeing the aggravated condition of the poor, the forced sexualism on women made him write screenplays and stories. His writings hit hard. He owns an attitude similar to the protagonist of Pyaasa, the tranquil ambiance of the movie Garam Hawa where neighbors are not missing a chance to abuse each other.

The entire movie has sequences of several stories written by him, Khol Do, Toba Tek Singh, Dus Rupay Ka Note, Thanda Gosht, etc. A pleasant ambiance by Reeta Ghosh would induce the real flair of the atmosphere of the 1947 era. Mumbai seems to be raw, and Lahore streets are still brooding over the partition.

Manto Movie Review

Nawaz did a splendid job as playing the role as a lead. Not just physically but his words, his voice, his walk everything resembles the chided Manto. No one could have done a better role than him. The clumsy kurta, the big fat glasses, and the teeth all perfect to map the then Manto. The sly of humor, frustration, bitterness all blended perfectly.

Critics – Manto movie review

The movie is all about the downfall of Manto. Partition, stories and court dealings find the primary focus in the film. Being a bit patchy, it could have envisioned a little more. Now just the same but the calmness of Manto if presented would have been most appreciated.

A must watch!
